*puppy dog eyes*
Mar. 2nd, 2007 09:42 pmIs anyone out there nice enough to burn me a copy of all the Code Geas episodes that have been released so far? I'll pay for CDs/DVDs and shipping!
And before people start pointing me towards various URLs where I can download it: I have a very slow internet connection. It takes about 30 minutes to download a 4Mb mp3...so imagine how long it would take to download a 175Mb episode?
I'd also be interested in the Death Note TV series...

Thanks to
mystedraveneyes, I now know that I won 1st Place Beginner at Katsucon this year, for my Marie Antoinette dress.
Now I need to track down the judges and get my friggin' award...^_~

And then it poured out of my ears!
Mar. 1st, 2007 08:58 pmNot really.
But I do wanna thank The Right Stuf and ADV for their friggin' amazing sale. $4 or $5 for DVDs? Gee, thanks!
So I ended up buying 35 DVDs...bite me. Hello empty wallet!
Now I just need to track down the discs they didn't have in stock (maybe Half.com, or some such place...?)

Dudes: The Cult of Cool
Feb. 27th, 2007 04:25 pmOkay...so anyone who has been to my house knows that we have quite a library of random books in our basement. In boxes, on shelves, stacked on tables, etc - they seem to be everywhere.
So yesterday I was randomly browsing through a pile and came across a particularly odd book, "Dudes: The Cult of Cool" by Mel Green. My initial though was WTF? Is this something my dad picked up for a quarter at a garage sale?
It's only about 50 pages long and has a humorous collage on the front cover, so I started reading it. It's h-i-l-a-r-i-o-u-s. It's basically a manual on How to be a Dude. It also lists modern people who are dudes (including women) and people who are wannabe dudes.
This is probably my favorite excerpt from the whole book:
The Right Attitude or The Dude-itude:
(1) By all means, and under any circumstances - remain cool.
(2) Take crap from no man, woman, child or small mammal (this can also include household appliances, vehicles and plants).
(3) Never wear a jogging suit.
(4) Eliminate 'The Dull' wherever it is found.
(5) Never cause gridlock.
(6) Always carry sunglasses.
(7) Avoid winter.
My favorite is #2. Heh.
There are more funny parts in the book, but I don't feel like typing anymore. So there.

I have only found ONE photo of myself from Katsucon. And it's an absolutely awful picture of me and Beth.
Now I'm annoyed at myself for NOT taking pictures with my own camera. I have NO full-body shots of my Marie costume. None! I also have NO photos of Beth and I in the Cheshire Cat costumes, together. I am so disgusted with my own lack of foresight.

It's been awhile...
Feb. 5th, 2007 09:46 pmSince I indulged in a meme! I have ravenmichiru to thank for this one...
The Rules: Think of ten songs starting with a letter (she gave me the letter "B") and give the reasons you picked that song. Comment in this journal and I'll give you a letter to start one with. Yep. That's how it works.
Okay...10 best songs currently in my playlist (which includes just about everything I own). I'll arrange them alphabetically, just because it's easiest when messing with iTunes.
#1: Baby Got Back - Sir Mix-A-Lot. If you've never heard this hilarious song, you live under a rock. Or possibly in a foreign, non-English-speaking country. Same thing.
#2: Battle Cry - Nujabes. Opening theme for Samurai Champloo. Japanese rappers. What else is there to say?
#3: Be My Angel - Atsuko Enomoto. Some Angelic Layer goodness. Cute!
#4: Beauty on the Fire - Natalie Imbruglia. Lovely lyrics sung in a terribly awesome manner.
#5: Bent - Matchbox Twenty. One of their first breakaway hits. It's still an awesome song.
#6: Bitch - Meredith Brooks. Many, many people have told me that I resemble this song.
#7: Breakaway - Kelly Clarkson. I love this song, so sue me. I think she is the only good thing to ever come out of American Idol. Her voice is beautiful.
#8: Bridge Over Troubled Water - Simon & Garfunkle. Classic, classic, classic.
#9: Bring Me To Life - Evanescence. Way over-played on the radio, but an amazing song if you bother to listen to the lyrics. Also...amazing vocals.
#10: Bullet with Butterfly Wings - Smashing Pumpkins. Okay, let's go back to the mid-90s when alternative music was popular. This song stood for everything that pop didn't.

SPAMITTY SPAM SPAM SPAMMMMMMM!
Jan. 26th, 2007 10:14 amJust a little f'list spam. My friends list is being uneventful at the moment, so I figured I'd post with some nonsense. Crazy stuff is good, right?
I've decided that I want the following t-shirts:
I'm Made of Meat! http://www.qwantz.com/shirt_lily.jpg
About a zillion shirts from this site: http://www.goats.com/store/tshirts.html#
most notably: "hooray for diversity", "Stuff is Awesome!", "Xibalba Is For Lovers", "Zombie Peanut Butter" and "Kittens = Poptarts"
There you have it - your spam for the day. Enjoy. It's especially tasty when sliced thin and fried.

A rider on a pale horse
Jan. 17th, 2007 04:49 pmMy cousin Brenden died today. He finally lost his 10 year battle with cancer.
When he was 5, he was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. The tumor was removed and with extensive radiation therapy, he was "fine" (deaf and missing part of his brain). For 10 years nothing happened. Then about 3 months ago, his dentist noticed a lump on his jaw. The cancer had regrouped as bone cancer there and had spread to his lymphnodes. From there it was just a matter of time before it hit vital organs.
To remove this cancer, they would have had to remove his entire lower jaw. Then start in on more radiation therapy. Even with the therapy, the survival rate was less than 30%. Mott Children's Hospital refused to do more radiation, as the treatment would kill him faster than the cancer would. He'd had so much as a child that they could not safely give him more.
While I don't envy him his life (cancer, insane mother, divorced parents, spoiled little sister), I can say without a doubt that he enjoyed it. He had lots of friends at his special school for the deaf. He had two sets of devoted grandparents. A plethora of aunts, uncles, cousins and other assorted family to support him. The community loved him and actually raised money for his first battle with cancer, as well as his school tuition. He was a nice kid, even if I only met him a few dozen times. When your family is as extended as mine is, it is hard to see everybody with any frequency.

Jan. 9th, 2007 02:45 pmA nice long rant about how I got "accidentally fired" for an hour yesterday morning. Their words, not mine - honest.
Also, I will post photos of my awesomely fantastic gingerbread house! It kicked my ass, but now I'm eating its roof. Take that, bitches! ^_~
(and because I'm such a geek, every time I look at the house I cannot help but quote Futurama: It's shelter or food, not both!) *heh*

Jan. 3rd, 2007 03:55 amOkay...I know that at home I don't have the fastest internet connection in the world. This makes me forget to download things, or visit websites.
So, SIX MONTHS (literally) after Anime Expo, I finally watched the video footage of Weyrlady, Mystedraveneyes and myself that Deathcom.net took of us in our Rayearth costumes. Heh. We so silly.

Gingerbread House
Dec. 25th, 2006 06:12 pmOh My God. Making this gingerbread house is driving me fucking nuts. It's the first time I've ever made one, so I expected to run into some issues...but goodness! It is seriously taking my entire family to put this beast together! I'll definitely take a photo when I'm done. *whew*
I will master this! :P
