OMG. Just got back from tubing from Camp Davis to Hoback Junction (6 miles, took us 4.5 hours - but we did stop for awhile at the swimming hole). It was hella fun. We bought truck tire tubes for $10 from a local garage and just floated on our asses down this FREEZING cold river, that has class 3 rapids. It was great. Monamie, Heather, Michelle, Andrew and I went on ahead of Phil, Matt and Amy. Matt and Phil each took a Nalgene full of wine with them and were so unbelievably drunk (it was hillarious!).
At the swimming hole, I jumped off the first branch (about 10' above the water) of this really tall (60') tree, into the rapids. It was...fun, yet kinda scary (the current there is WICKED strong). Matt's inner-tube floated off down river, so he had to walk after it. When we found it, it had punctured itself on a tree in the middle of the river. Since he was drunk, he decided to just pass out at that spot, until the rest of us finished our 'journey' and came back to get him. Phil's tube also got punctured near there, so Amy left her tube for Matt to sleep on, while she and Phil hitchhiked their way to Hoback Junction.
The rest of us had the shit scared out of us by some crazy-ass rapids. It was great. And on the ride back, all of us were piled into the cargo van with our tubes and were just getting THROWN around while listening to music. Much fun was had.
Now I'm wicked tired (and hungry), so peace out!
