Procrastination, you are my mentor...
Apr. 26th, 2004 10:36 pmWell, I've decided that I've become a member of the Holy Order of High Procrastinators, and hereby nominate myself for supreme leader. For although it was pouring rain and gross outside, and although I had lots of homework to do (and still do!), I decided that it would be a great idea to drive to Borders and get a copy of xxxHOLIC. Because I have absolutely nothing better to do than use my already spoken for time reading manga.
I was a little weirded out when I paid for the manga, though. The cashier (he was about 30 something) asked me "why are so many more girls buying manga in the last year or so?" I just looked him in the eye and said "I have no idea - I've been reading manga since I was eleven." The guy just kinda looked at me like I was from outer space, said "oh, you're ahead of the game, then" and handed me xxxHOLIC. What a weird experience. I mean, what the hell do you say when someone asks why you've been purchasing more manga lately? Er...could it be because I'm now an adult, have a job and can afford more manga? Or maybe because it's in ENGLISH now -- which means I no longer have to buy it in Japanese or Chinese and use online translations (or buy it in French and translate it myself)?! *sigh* Silly people working at Borders...
